Pondicherry, the famous exotic destination offers a great range of entertainment, sightseeing, breathtaking and scenic locations all over the city. Botanical Gardens


The Botanical Gardens is a place where you can find different varieties of rare and exotic plants from Indian and abroad. Inside the Gardens, there is an aquarium with rare varieties of ornamental fish. Stepping into this aquarium will enable you to glimpse at the coastal fishing methods adopted in Pondicherry. Eglise de Sacre Coeur de Jesus


This ancient church on the South Boulevard is famous for its Gothic architecture. It is dedicated to the sacred heart of Jesus. The panels and stained glass corridors depicts the life of Jesus Christ. Many people feel that their visit to this church offers a calm and peaceful state of mind. You can find large number of tourists gathered during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Romain Rolland Library


Established in 1827, Romain Rolland Library is a large library that holds a collection of more than 30,000 volumes and periodicals in French, English and Tamil. It is a place where you can find some of the rare collections of books. Make sure to visit this place as it is treasured with historic evidences.

Museums and Art Galleries


Situated close to Government Park, the museum is a famous place to visit in Pondicherry. This museum holds a number of valuable facts of Pondicherry in present and past. Give a look at the sculpture gallery that contains some specimen of Pallava and Chola art. Some of the famous findings from Arikamedu such as Roman Pottery and Burial Urns are found in the archaeological section of the museum. The highlighted part of the museum is the French Gallery.

Sri Aurobindo Ashram


Sri Aurobindo Ashram, the centre of Integral Yoga was established in 1926 by Sri Aurobindo. He is a philosopher, patriot and savant. Basically, the ashram symbolises some of the ideals of Sri Aurobindo and Mother. Many activities take place in the ashram such as agriculture, industries, art and culture. Tourists from different parts of the world visit this ashram without fail.
